Eucalyptus Citriodora - (Corymbia)
Lemon Scented Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus Citriodora (also known as Corymbia Citriodora) is a fast growing evergreen tree native to temperate and tropical north eastern Australia.
It has smooth, pale, slightly mottled bark, white to coppery in summer, and narrow leaves which smell strongly of lemons.
Eucalyptus leaves are a traditional Aboriginal herbal remedy. The essential oil found in the leaves is a powerful antiseptic and antibacterial, and is used all over the world for relieving coughs and colds, sore throats and other infections.
The essential oil is a common ingredient in many over-the-counter cold remedies.
This species is a very rich source of citronella, which is much used in the perfumery industry and a natural sweet smelling insect repellant.
Prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil.
Grows to a height of around to 35 meters.
Minimum temperature around freezing, though not recommended.
