Torenia Fournieri - Wishbone Flower
Native to Southeast Asia, the annual Torenia is also known as the Wishbone Flower for the shape of the stamens when the flower first opens, or ‘Bluewings’ for the deep colour of the petals.
Grows to a height and spread of approximately 30cm, with ovate, serrated leaves reaching 5cm long. Leaves are slightly hairy.
Flowers are trumpet shaped, with a yellow throat and blue-purple flowers that get darker at the tips of the partially-fused petals. Flowers appear from early to late summer.
Enjoys a consistently moist but well draining soil, in part or full shade.
