Tecoma Capensis - Cape Honeysuckle
Native to southern Africa, this scrambling shrub reaches up to around 3m in height and spread, with opposite leaves and somewhat serrated margins, mid to dark green in colour and around 15cm long.
The flowers are a stunning orange colour, tube shaped, up to 8cm long. Blooms typically appear from autumn to spring, though in warmer areas they may blossom all year round.
Highly attractive to butterflies!
Frost tender, though it can tolerate low temperatures for a short period of time. Requires annual pruning to keep tidy.
