Stapelia (Orbea) Variegata
Asclepiad Carrion Flower Succulent
This clump forming succulent is a native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, and hence its name - variegata - has very variable flowers.
The toothed succulent stems are green, often with patches of purple grow to around 12cm in height, and a spread of around 30 cm. In summer, it produces flat, wrinkled, flowers, red brown, with patterns of white or cream blotches, which smell faintly of rotting meat, to attract flies, which it uses as it pollinators.
Frost tender, it should be kept above 10°C.
