Ravenala Madagascariensis - Travelers Palm Tree
This amazing palm tree from Madagascar is the only species in its genus, and grows wild in Primary and secondary rain forest areas of the island.
Commonly known as the Travelers Palm as each leaf stem can hold around 2 liters of clean drinking water, each palm provides around 15-30 huge leaves year round when mature.
Can grow up to 10 to 20m tall when with 3m banana plant shaped leaves which often appear fern-like, due to the wind damaging them.
A very close relative of the Bird Of Paradise plant 'Strelitzia', it has similar flowers but are less showy.
Frost tender, keep these above 15°C.
