Parkinsonia Aculeata - Jerusalem Thorn
A small deciduous tree native to southern USA and Mexico. growing to around 10 m in height. It has 2 pinnate leaves to 30 cm long with many small leaflets. The stems and small branches are covered with spines.
In spring, racemes of cup shaped yellow flowers are produces, each around 2 cm across, with a red spot on the petals and bright red stamens.
