These truly original succulents comes from the island of Madagascar off the East coast of Mozambique. Madagascarhas evolved on its own for millions of years, even its dinosaur fossils are found nowhere else.

The plant can reach 3 to 8 m high, and its trunk up to 60 cm in diameter at base. The plant has short branches and 1-cm long spines. Leaves are green and 10 to 15 cm long, 4 cm wide.

One of the largest Pachypodiums, it grows from around 3 to 8 meters when mature, and its trunk 60 cm in diameter at base. Leaves are mid green and 10 to 15 cm long, 4 cm wide.

Typical of the Genus, the trunk and short branches are covered with groups of 3 spines, although are smaller on this species compared to others. Flowers are pale yellow when mature.

A must have plant for the succulent collection.

Likes full sun, a well drained soil, and left dry in the winter, when it will shed its leaves. Keep above 10°C.
