A cactus native to Mexico with a long taproot, this small Mammillaria reaches only around 3cm tall above ground and 5cm in diameter.
The trunk is globose and flattened somewhat, blue-green in colour with many tubercles rather than ribs. Each tubercle has up to 5 spines growing from the tip, around 7mm long, stiff and needle shaped.
The flowers are funnel shaped, appearing from March onwards, white in colour with pink stripes, up to 2cm long, with yellow stigmas.
Requires a tall pot to accommodate the taproot, which can reach up to 10cm long.
