Kalanchoe Daigremontiana - Mexican hat plant / Devil's backbone / Mother of Thousands.
Kalanchoe ( Bryophyllum ) Daigremontiana is a very unusual plant native to Madagascar, with many common names, Mother Of Thousands probably being the most appropriate.
It has thick fleshy leaves, green, marked with dark green or purple blotches. The serrated leaf margins form new plantlets, each leaf may produce 20 or 30 new tiny plants, which eventually drop off the mother plant, form roots and grow into new plants.
VERY easy to propagate!
Tubular greyish pink flowers 2cm long open in winter.
A succulent, it likes a well drained soil and to be kept on the dry side during winter.
Grows to a height of around 50 cm, and a spread of around 10 cm.
Minimum recommended temperature around 10°C.
