Cyperus Alternifolius - Umbrella Papyrus
Native to West Africa and Madagascar, this grass-like perennial can reach up to 1m tall. Stems are upright, dark green, with a tufted head of bracts, looking similar to umbrella spokes. In the autumn the 'umbrellas' bear tiny brown flowers.
In the wild this Cyperus grows in ponds and other wet areas - this is one of the few plants that won't suffer from overwatering! Pots can be kept standing in water or grown as an aquatic plant.
Keep above 5°C at all times.
