Native across Europe and Asia, this perennial reaches up to 1.2m tall with lanceolate leaves reaching up to 10cm long. Plants grow in upright clumps, with reddish-brown stems.

Purple flowers only around 2cm across, grow in tight clusters in leaf axils from around halfway up the stalks. The flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies!

It has been used medicinally to treat issues like diarrhea and dysentery. Please contact a GP before using in a medicinal context.
