Collinsia Heterophylla - Purple Chinese Houses
Native to California, this annual is known as Purple Chinese Houses for the shape of its flowers, which resemble Chinese pagodas.
Reaching up to 50cm tall, its somewhat hairy leaves are lanceolate, up to 5cm long, silvery-green in colour. Flowers grow in racemes, up to 3cm long with 2 upper lobed white petals and up to 4 lower lobed purple petals. Flowers cluster on spikes, creating the multi-tiered 'pagoda' effect. Blooms appear from midspring onwards.
Fully hardy to -15°C.
