Hedychium Coccineum - Orange or Scarlet Gingerlily
Hedychium Coccineum, known as the Orange or Scarlet Gingerlily is a native of southern China, Tibet, the Himalayas and India.
It is a tall plant with waxy, grey-green strap like leaves, topped with dense spikes of orange showy flowers with a long protuding stamen. It flowers from June with successive blooms until early Autumn
It is a ginger found growing in mountain grass lands and forest edges, preferring some shade from full sun for part of the day.
Grows to a height of around 1.5 to 2 meters.
