Eclipta Alba - False Daisy / Bhringraj
Eclipta Alba is a creeping plant found growing throughout India. An annual, it produces small white daisies on narrow leaved plants growing to a height of around 30 cm tall.
It is highly prized by Ayurvedic (ancient Indian medicine) practitioners for its diverse range of health-giving powers, particularly with regards to its ability to overcome liver disorders. It appears to have some anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic effects in studies with the mechanism of action not yet known.
The leaves are used in the treatment of scorpion stings, and are used as an antidote for snake bites.
