Crocosmia Aurea - Falling Stars / Valentine Flower
Crocosmia Aurea, is a perennial plant found across Eastern and Southern Africa, commonly known as Falling Stars or the Valentine Flower.
Growing from underground corms, it has long basal strap like leaves, and from June to August, produces a tall flower stalk with branched inflorescences, of bright orange star like flowers.
Found growing in shady forests or along the banks of rivers, they prefer a moist habitat.
Grows to around 1.2 meters in height.
Frost tender, but corms should be lifted and stored over winter for spring planting, in cold winter areas.
