Carissa Macrocarpa - Natal Plum
A many branched spiny shrub from southern Africa, known locally as the Num-Num, its fruits are edible, and is often used as a preserve as well as being eaten off the plant.
ALL other parts of this plant are poisonous, a white latex sap is exuded from cuts or damaged areas.
Never eat plants which have a milky sap!
Growing to a maximum height and spread of 2 - 3 m, it has many elliptical deep green leaves, and fragrant Jasmine like flowers which appear in late spring, followed by the fruit.
Minimum temperatures around 5°C.
