Capparis Spinosa - Caper Berry Plant
Capparis Spinosa is a Mediterranean plant well known for producing Caper Berries, which are pickled in salt solution which releases their intense flavour!
Growing in a bushy shrub form, it has many branches with oval leaves and showy, sweetly fragrant flowers, with 4 pink/white petals and many purple stamens.
Considered to be a very drought resistant plant, it can withstand very high temperatures and can withstand low temperatures too, but can be sensitive to frosts in vegetive growth.
Caper seeds quickly become dormant after they are produced, and require a period of cold stratification for higher germination percentages.
