Desmanthus Illinoensis - Prairie Mimosa
Desmanthus illinoensis, or prairie mimosa is a native perennial of the south and Midwestern US. It can often be found growing on the sides of roads, needing full sun and ample moisture during its short growing season, typically in flower from May to July.
The foliage is made up of pinnate fern like leaves, and the plants roots can fix Nitrogen in the soil.
Grows to a height of around 1.3 meters.
Fully hardy to -15°C and under.
