Aloe Polyphylla - Spiral Aloe Succulent
This very unusual, and highly sought after Aloe from Lesotho, a country surrounded by South Africa, grows in a tight rosette of fleshy leaves, in a spherical form to around 40 to 50 cm+ in diamater, and around 30 to 40 cm in height. When mature, it will produce short stems of bright yellow and red flowers.
This Aloe grows at high altitudes of mountainous areas from 2000 to 2500 meters, and is tolerant of cold, and wet conditions with very good drainage, unlike many other Aloes and succulents. It appears this plant is tolerant of being left outside in winters in England.
Can be challenging to grow long term, as it will need to be kept in a cool position in hot summers.
Minimum recommended temperature around -5°C (reportedly copes with much lower temperatures)
